1/12/2015                                                     Elder Tim Seljaas

Peru Lima East Mission
(note from Mom…It's Tim and Austin's birthday on Friday!!! Tim will be 19, Auzzy 21)

Well this week was a pretty good week and I learned a lot. I feel like I am progressing a lot so that make me happy. Also it is wierd to hear about football, especially because it sounds like the same thing that happened last year is happening this year jaja. So this was a good year to miss. Also yes I will want to eat bacon more after my mission because we arent allowed to eat pig here. Pig is good and I miss it jaja.

Well anyway other than that we had a good week. I got the letters from the ward for Christmas and they were funny. Auzzys letter was funny and my companion read it and laughed. Also Josh told me hes read the Book of Mormon twice since I left. You should verify that dad. So that is how that went. Also this week we had a baptism which was cool. We also had eight less actives come to church so the ward is prgressing a lot.

So that is how the missionary work is. It is going well and even though we dont have many baptisms coming up, the ward is helping a lot with the less actives. The mission is now focussing on less actives because like 90 percent of members in South America are less active. So the focus has changed a lot. So hopefully we can help the people come back to church!

So that is how the mission life is going. I am still loving my mission a lot and I am excited to see what will come. The time is flying, but not too fast jaja. My companions have always made fun of me for how little time I have jaja. All my companions are old in the mission. Well let me know how everything is going at home and how everyone is doing?

Love, Elder Seljaas

Well this week was a good week and we had a lot of success. We found a lot of cool people. Also I am doing better with the whole talking to people thing. Also I can understand Spanish now just not slang. At lunch yesterday we ate with members and they were joking around about slang. I didnt understand a word that was said jaja. Also it is winter here in Chosica because it rains in this time of year. It never rains in Lima though. So Lima is super hot and Chosica is alright right now. Only hot in the mornings. Also that is sad to hear about no snow I bet you are happy though jaja.

So that is how it is going here and the missionary work is still fun. Days fly by now because it is such a routine. It is crazy, but I am enjoying it. We are also started to see a lot of results from our work so that makes me happy.

I guess this week is my birthday. I honestly didnt realize it. I dont think I am going to tell anyone it is my birthday though jaja. I dont really want to do anything. They take birthdays way to seriously here in Peru. They always shove your head in a cake or crack an egg on your head. I dont want to do that jaja.

So life is cool here in Peru and keep me updated on home.

Today is the day we would have picked up Austin from his mission if he had not had cancer. To celebrate he planned to attend the Temple with friends only to find it was closed for Martin Luther King Day.
So instead he played basketball…(against Doctors orders), went shopping with us, then tonight he went with friends to hand out sandwiches to homeless people in Salt Lake….wow….random….I hope he makes it home alive….I guess the streets of Mexico were most likely worse than downtown Salt Lake?
Friends have been coming home!!!! Yay!!!!
Anyway…Just thought I would update and say that we have been to all our Doctors appointments and he is Cancer free and doing well!…Next Appointment…February!
Austin and Braden at the Jazz game with Thurl and Krew…Look at his hair!!! He has it!
Meet Jamison his tumor. I had named it Egor and he said he needed to name it because it would be the only child he would ever have…fair enough! Jamison it is…let the baby jokes fly! Jamison had blond hair, teeth, cartilage, nerves ect.. This pic is was taken minutes after being extracted from his heart and lung!

Austin now has to find money for school. So he is going to sale security systems I believe in Texas for the summer Months and hope he makes enough to live on and pay for tuition for next year! Wish him luck! He is excited and looking forward to it!
update….pic from handing out sandwiches to the homeless….

Meet our new friend Cory and his dog brownie! Our goal today was to give out some sandwiches to the homeless and we came across them. Very blessed to have met them and hear their story! ‪#‎feelingood‬
