Elder Tim

I have thought about posting on the blog again for a while. When Tim left for Peru, I just couldn't do it. I had never cried when Kyle or Austin left on their missions. I was so happy for them and the experiences they'd be having. But with Tim it was different. I was sobbing for weeks. I kept thinking of him as a baby, and feeling like I had just put this little innocent boy on an airplane to a foreign Country.

We stood there watching him for about 10 minutes pretend to fix his belt after security. He was waiting to follow another missionary up the escalator. I'm sure he didn't know where to go in the airport.

When we talked to him on the phone 5 weeks later, we told him how much we had missed him. His response was that he didn't want us to feel bad, but he hadn't missed us at all. He was loving his mission. The people, other missionaries, the experiences…everything.

12 Let no man despise thy youth; but be thou an example of the believers, in word, in conversation, in charity, in spirit, in faith, in purity.
13 Till I come, give attendance to reading, to exhortation, to doctrine.
14 Neglect not the gift that is in thee, which was given thee by prophecy, with the laying on of the hands of the presbytery.
15 Meditate upon these things; give thyself wholly to them; that thy profiting may appear to all.
16 Take heed unto thyself, and unto the doctrine; continue in them: for in doing this thou shalt both save thyself, and them that hear thee.
